March Scholarship and Opportunities Bulletin


Gooding Basque Association Scholarship-To apply for this scholarship, you must be a high school senior graduating in 2016; have at least a 3.0 GPA;  and be a resident of Idaho.  In addition to the application, you must include the following forms-official transcript(s), resume which includes date of birth and birthplace, essay, 2 letters of recommendation, and a photo of yourself.  Applications are available from Mrs. Draves in the Counseling Office.  The Gooding Basques Association will be awarding two $500 scholarships.  Applications and materials must be POSTMARKED by Saturday, April 16, 2016.


Lewis-Clark State College-The electronic General Scholarship Application for Lewis-Clark State College can be found at www.lcsc.edu/financialaid. The application deadline is March 1, 2016.


2016 Student-View Scholarship Program-The 2016 Student-View Scholarship program is offering $11,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a 4-year college, community/junior college, or career school after graduation.  The program includes:

1 individual prize-$4,000 scholarship award

2 individual prizes-$1,000 scholarship awards

8 individual prizes-$500 scholarship awards

Tools for the Trades Scholarship-Tools for the Trades provides funding for Idaho students pursuing certificates or degrees in professional-technical education programs at Idaho Postsecondary Institutions.  The intent of the scholarship is to offset the costs of purchasing required hand or power tools as determined by the specific program selected by the student.  Any student who plans to enroll in an approved program at the postsecondary level that requires occupational tools is eligible for this scholarship.  The application can be found at http://www.idahoptef.org/files/2015ToolsOfTheTradeScholarship.pdf  The application deadline is March 1, 2016.


Anne Veseth Memorial Scholarship-This scholarship provides $500 to encourage Idaho students pursuing first certificates or degrees in professional-technical education at Idaho technical colleges.  This competitive scholarship is available to graduating Idaho high school students who plan to enroll or who are currently enrolled in an approved Professional Technical Education program at the postsecondary level.  The deadline for this scholarship is May 1, 2016.  The application can be found at http://www.idahoptef.org/scholarships.asp.


 Bengal Visit Day

Who: All Juniors and Seniors interested in Idaho State University.

What:  Come explore what life is like as a Bengal! Visit campus for a full-day college experience. Students will learn about scholarships and financial aid, housing, test taking strategies, hear from a student panel, as well as go on a campus tour. Lunch will be provided.

When:  Saturday, April 16th, 2016 from 9:30am to 2:30pm

Health Science Day

Who:  Juniors and Seniors interested in the Health Professions. (but really open to any major!)

What:  Come visit campus to learn more about ISU's outstanding health professions. During Health Science Day students may participate in the Health Fair, attend breakout sessions, take a campus tour, have lunch on us, and win free prizes!

When:  Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 9:00am to 3:00pm

Hornbuckle Firm Scholarship

The Hornbuckle Law Firm is pleased to offer the Hornbuckle Law Scholarship. This scholarship is available to high school seniors in Idaho, Oregon and Washington who plan on attending a 4-year college or 2-year community college.

     Scholarship is due by May 31st, 2016

     A winner will be announced on July 15th, 2016


     Must have a minimum 3.5 GPA.

     Scholarship for high school seniors in the state of Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

     Must be attending a 4-year college or 2-year community college.

     A transcript must be submitted for consideration.

     The scholarship is a one-time award of $500.00.

     Winner will be notified via mail and email.

     Although not required, applicants are encouraged to submit recommendation letters and/or resumes to substantiate their application.

     This scholarship must be submitted in full by May 31st, 2016.

Elmer and Ester Graff Memorial Scholarship-$1,000 will be given each year to a graduating senior who will further their education by going into a trade program.  The recipient will be chosen by the Graff family and they will issue funds after proof of registration is provided in the fall.  This memorial scholarship is a fitting tribute to Elmer and Ester Graffs’ belief in the value of education and its ability to transform not just individual lives, but the life of the community as well.  If you would like an application, please see Mrs. Draves.  The application deadline is March 18, 2016.  

NEW ADDITION'S-March 3, 2016  

Chapter BP P.E.O. International Scholarship-Chapter BP, Twin Falls, P.E.O. International announces a $300 scholarship available this year to a high school graduate woman resident of Twin Falls, Lincoln, or Jerome County for tuition and/or books at an Idaho college, university, junior college or vocational school. 

Applicants must have a 2.5 minimum GPA.  Need will be considered as well as extracurricular activities, including jobs and volunteer work.  An essay explaining the student's goals and personal situation is also required.  Two references are requested.  Finalists for this scholarship will be asked to attend a personal interview conducted by members of this organization.  Applications can be obtained in the counseling office.  Application deadline is June 30, 2016.

Nursing Scholarships-The following nursing scholarships are available at Nursing.org. 
1.  Bridging Your Career:  The RN to BSN Scholarship-$500
2. Nursing.Org's Nurses First Scholarship-$1,000
3.Breaking Barriers:  Scholarship for Men in Nursing-$500

New Addition-March 5, 2016:  Magic Valley Dairy Days Scholarship-
These scholarships are awarded to students in the Magic Valley for use at Idaho colleges, universities and vocational schools.  An independent selection committee consisting of Wendell business, education, and community members selects recipients based on the applicant's community service, educational aims, goals and needs.  Extracurricular activities are also considered.  All scholarships must be used within one year after they are awarded.  Applications are available in the counseling office.  Deadline is April 30, 2016.

New Addition, March 10, 2016-

Devon Andersen Memorial Scholarship-$300 is to be given annually to a Murtaugh High School graduating senior who demonstrates the importance of education, citizenship, sportsmanship and athletics during their high school years.  The applicant will write an essay describing their participation in the above mentioned and will be chosen by a scholarship committee comprised at the Murtaugh School District.  Deadline-April 15, 2016.  Applications should be returned to Mrs. Draves in the counseling office. 

Ed Uhlig Memorial Scholarship-$500 is given annually to a Murtaugh High School graduating senior who plans to further their education and has; financial needs; demonstrates leadership qualities; and partipated/participates in agricultural programs.  The applicant will write an essay describing their participation in the above mentioned and will be chosen by a scholarship committee comprised at the Murtaugh School District.  Deadline-April 15, 2016  Applications should be returned to Mrs. Draves in the counseling office.

Capps Elementary Scholarship-$500 will be given to a graduating senior who will register and attend a post-secondary college/school and demonstrates the importance of education and leadership.  The applicant must have attended Murtaugh Elementary for at least one full year and will write a one page essay describing the advantages they experienced attending a small school.  Essays will be judged by a committee of elementary employees.  Application deadline-April 15, 2016.  Please return to Mrs. Draves in the counseling office.
